Praia da Arrifana

A shell-shaped cove where traditional fishing methods are still practiced, with the 'Pedra da Agulha' (Needle Rock) emerging from the sea as a landmark of the Costa Vicentina. It's worth the walk to the top of the cliff, where the ruins of the Fortaleza da Arrifana dominate the landscape — and, further on, the remains of an ancient Muslim convent-fortress.
